An ACT to provide for the appointment of general registrars for certain counties and to prescribe the duties of such general registrars.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 3388 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to when clerks’ offices shall be kept open, and when they may be closed.
An ACT to amend the Virginia Retirement Act by adding thereto a new section to be numbered 6-a, in relation to persons in the armed forces of the United States; and to amend and re-enact Sections 10, 13 and 20 of the Virginia Retirement Act, in relation to withdrawal before retirement, and death benefits; employee annuity savings fund, and payroll deduction; and collection of State contributions, respectively.
An ACT to require the school board of any county having an area and population within certain respective designated limitations to employ school attendance officers, prescribing their duties, and making certain violations of the provisions thereof misdemeanors and prescribing the punishment therefor.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 10 of Chapter 364 of the Acts of Assembly of 1934, approved March 29, 1934, relating to compensation of certain county and city officers, and the creation of the Compensation Board, and its powers and duties; and abolition of the State Fee Commission, Section 10 relating to applications for allowances by certain officers, etc. [fH 237]
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1004 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to hospitals and colonies for the insane, epileptic, feeble-minded and inebriate.
An ACT to provide for an addition to the regular cash payments made to certain retired public school teachers out of the Virginia Retirement System fund, and to appropriate funds to carry out the provisions of this act.
An ACT to provide for the recordation by clerks of courts of counties and cities, in a book or books to be designated “Induction and Discharge Record, World War II”, of certain information relating to residents thereof who are serving or have served in the armed forces of the United States in World War II, and to prescribe how the expenses of such recording shall be paid.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 89 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to compensation of members of electoral boards.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 62, as amended, of Chapter 342 of the Acts of Assembly of 1932, approved March 26, 1932, and known as “The Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia”, such section relating to speed limits for motor vehicles and unlawful driving, so as to permit the Governor by executive order to increase the maximum speed limits of certain motor vehicles, and to remove a provision making the section null and void after a specified date.
An ACT to authorize public and private corporations of and in the State of Virginia to make applications for the right to establish, operate and maintain, foreign-trade zones in or adjacent to ports otf entry in this State.
An ACT to provide for payment of certain per diem compensation and expenses to certain members of the Virginia Parole Board for a certain period, and declaring an emergency.
An ACT to authorize and empower the Board of Supervisors of any county which adjoins a county having a population of 1,000 per square mile, or more, as shown by the last preceding United States Census, to appoint an executive secretary; to prescribe the powers and duties of such executive secretary; to prescribe the powers and duties of the board of supervisors and certain other county officers in relation thereto; to prohibit certain county officers, employees and other persons from being interested in transactions in which the county is interested, and making such transactions void; and to repeal all acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act.
An ACT to define air carriers and air transportation brokers; to provide for the regulation, supervision, and control of persons, firms, corporations, and associations, owning, controlling, operating, or managing aircraft used for intrastate air transportation of persons or property for compensation or hire or the carriage of mail by aircraft in the air space of this State, and of air transportation brokers, whether such commerce moves wholly by aircraft or partly by aircraft and partly by other forms of transportation; to provide for the regulation of the rates thereof; to provide for and/or regulate and/or control the operation of, and the charges, rates, or services imposed by any person, firm, or corporation operating aircraft for compensation in the air space of this State; to provide for the enforcement of this act, and for the punishment of violations thereof.

An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 98 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to duties of registrars and their pay.

An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new section numbered 2726-a, relating to annual allowances to clerks of counties, and to repeal Section 2726-a 1 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the same subject.
An ACT to provide a new charter for the Town of Wachapreague
An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 14 and 15 of an act to provide a new charter for the City of Richmond, approved March 24, 1926; to amend and re-enact Section 27-a of said act, as amended by an act approved March 22, 1930; and to amend and re-enact Section 29 of said act, as amended by an act approved March 19, 1942; in relation to the composition of the City Council and terms of office of members thereof, the powers and duties of the city purchasing agent and heads of departments, and the number and election of trustees of the city school board.
An ACT to authorize the counties of Warwick, Elizabeth City and York, the cities of Newport News and Hampton, and the town of Phoebus, or any two or more of them, to create a commission, to be known as “The Peninsula Airport Commission”, for the purpose of establishing and operating airports and air navigation facilities for such counties, cities and towns; and to prescribe the rights, powers, duties and functions of such commission when so formed, and of the counties, cities and towns for which such commission is created.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto three new sections numbered 83-a, 83-b and 83-c, creating a State Board of Elections and prescribing its powers, duties and functions; to repeal Sections 94 and 188 of the Code of Virginia relating to the powers and duties of the Secretary of the Commonwealth and of the Board of State Canvassers; and to appropriate funds to carry out the provisions of this act.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 5985 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to who are exempt from jury service.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Title 37A entitled "Loan and Financing Organizations" (added to the Code by Chapter 370, Acts 1944), a new chapter numbered 166A 2 entitled "Virginia Building and Loan Law" consisting of 62 new sections numbered 4168-b 1 through 4168-b 61, to provide generally for the conduct of what is commonly known as building and loan business and for the authorization, regulation and supervision of everyone proposing to engage or engaging in such business; and to such end, to recodify the laws governing what are commonly known as building and loan associations; to provide for the administration of the laws governing the conduct of the business; to provide for punishment of, or penalties upon any person conducting such business without warrant of law, and also of or upon anyone for violations of certain provisions thereof or of lawful rules issued, orders entered or actions taken in the administration thereof; to provide for consolidation or merger of two or more such associations, for conversion from a State to a Federal association and vice versa, and for the respective rights, obligations and other consequences arising thereupon; to repeal certain specific designated act or acts relating to the same subject matter; and to repeal all other pertinent acts or parts of acts insofar as irreconcilably inconsistent.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new section thereto numbered 5930-a authorizing the payment of certain sums by certain cities to the clerks of the courts of record of such cities.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1 of Chapter 82 of the Acts of Assembly of 1938, approved March 8, 1938, relating to the composition of the Virginia State Planning Board.
An ACT to provide a new charter for the Town of Clintwood, in the County of Dickenson, and to repeal the charter provided for said town by Chapter 616 of the Acts of Assembly of 1893-4, approved March 3, cig and all acts amendatory thereof, or of any part thereof.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new section numbered 2769-a relating to the compensation and mileage of members of boards of supervisors and to repeal Section 2769 on the same subject.

An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1952, as amended, of the Code of Virginia so as to provide for reimbursing cities one-half of the compensation paid clerks, bailiffs, and other employees of juvenile and domestic relations courts.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 7, as amended, of Chapter V of Chapter 262 of the Acts of Assembly of 1889-90, approved February 17 1890, which incorporated and provided a charter for the City of Danville, the section relating to civil and police justices, salary of clerk and deputy and related matters.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 396 of the Code of Virginia in relation to the duties of the Director of the Division of Purchase and Printing in the distribution of volumes of Virginia Reports.
An ACT to authorize the State Board of Public Welfare to fix standards and make regulations for the operation of certain homes for aged, infirm, chronically ill or incapacitated persons, and to require compliance with such standards; and to provide penalties for violations of the provisions of this act.

An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 3, as amended, of Chapter 483 of the Acts of Assembly of 1922, approved March 27, 1922, relating to special justices in counties and certain cities, the section relating to the compensation of such justices, so as to provide for reimbursement by the State.
An ACT to revise the laws of Virginia with respect to post-mortem examinations, and to that end to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new chapter numbered 190-A and 15 new sections numbered 4806-a to 4806-0, both inclusive, creating a Commission on Post-Mortem Examinations and prescribing its powers, duties and functions; to provide for the appointment of a Chief Medical Examiner, and to prescribe his powers and duties with respect to post-mortem examinations and investigations ; to provide for the dis- position of certain dead bodies and of any property or estate of such deceased persons; to amend Section 1727, as amended, of the Code of Virginia relating to embalming dead bodies, and Sections 2817 and 2821 of said Code relating to the service of process and summons by coroners and others and the appoint- ment of criers for courts; and to repeal Sections 2815, 2818 and 2819 of the Code of Virginia relating to coroners, Chapter 190 of the Code of Virginia relating to coroners and coroner’s inquests, and Chapter 214 of the Acts of Assembly of 1932 relating to disposition by coroners of money or property of deceased persons.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 89 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to compensation of members of electoral boards.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1 of Chapter 251 of the Acts of Assembly of 1942, approved March 18, 1942, relating to systems of pensions and retirement allowances for, and death benefits for dependents of, officers and employees of certain cities, so as to include certain other cities within the provisions of this chapter.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 4, as amended, of Chapter 180 of the Acts of Assembly of 1914, approved March 21, 1914, which amended and re-enacted Chapter 114 of the Acts of Assembly of 1874, approved March 16, 1874, as that chapter was amended, which latter chapter incorporated and provided a charter for the Town of Boydton, the section relating to certain officers of the town.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 8 of Chapter 211 of the Acts of Assembly of 1944, approved March 14, 1944, which chapter provided for the annual assessment of real estate in certain cities, Section 8 relating to the abolishment of the board of assessors.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 3985 of the Code of Virginia and Section 84 of the Motor Vehicle Code both relating to railroad crossing boards and signs.
An ACT to provide for the submission of proposed amendments to Section 183 of the Constitution of Virginia to the qualified voters for ratification or rejection, and to prescribe when and how such referendum shall be had, and the manner in which the results thereof shall be ascertained and certified, the returns canvassed, and the vote thereon proclaimed by the Governor.
An ACT to amend an act entitled "An act to provide for the compensation of attorneys for the Commonwealth in the counties and cities, county and city treasurers, and county and city commissioners of the revenue, and officers and employees performing the duties of such officers in counties which adopt optional forms of county organization and government; to prescribe the method of fixing and paying their salaries and the expenses of the operation of their offices; to provide for the payment of such salaries and expenses; to provide for the disposition of the fees collected by such officers; to provide for a Compensation Board to administer this act; to provide for the powers, duties and functions of such board; to abolish the State Fee Commission; to appropriate funds for the payment of salaries and expenses and for the administration of this act; and to repeal all acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act"
An ACT to ametd the Code of Virginia by adding two new sections numbered 683-a 1, and 683-a 2, to require, and specify the use of, certain equipment on school buses and to prescribe penalties.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 2 and 7 of Chapter 278 of the Acts of Assembly of 1893-94, approved February 15, 1894, which chapter provided a new charter for the Town of Ashland, Sections 2 and 7 relating to the municipal officers of the town.
An ACT to authorize and empower the governing body of the College of William and Mary in Virginia to sell and convey a lot of land situate in the City of Williamsburg, Virginia.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 363, as amended, of the Code of Virginia, relating to composition and appointment of the State Board for the Certification of Librarians.
An ACT to provide for the annual assessment and equalization of assessments of real estate in certain counties, by boards of real estate assessments; to provide for the appointment of the members of such boards and their terms of office; to prescribe their powers and duties, and provide for their compensation; and to prescribe remedies for persons aggrieved by any such assessments.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new section numbered 4219-b, prescribing the rights of beneficiaries, assignees and creditors under policies of life insurance.
An ACT to provide for the creation and incorporation of the City of Arlington; to provide a charter and form of government therefor; to prescribe its confines; to transfer certain powers, rights, duties, obligations, property and other matters; to provide how the foregoing may be accomplished; to continue certain ordinances, and acts, and preserve certain rights, and repeal certain acts.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1486 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to the State Board of Health, so as to add a Member of the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association to the Board.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 2724-b of the Code of Virginia, relating to boards of supervisors providing funds for working roads in the counties, so as to include water and sanitary systems.
An ACT to describe, define, and officially adopt a system of coordinates for designating and stating the positions of points on the surface of the earth within the Commonwealth of Virginia
An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 6, 15, and 18 as amended, of Chapter 69 of the Acts of Assembly of 1922, approved February 25, 1922, which provided a new charter for the town of Strasburg, the sections relating, respectively, to mayor and council of town, their powers and duties, plats of streets and ways, and election, salaries and compensation of certain officers.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 835 of the Code of Virginia relating to the Board of Visitors of the Virginia Military Institute.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 52, as amended, of Chapter 342 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1932, approved March 26, 1932, and known, designated and cited as the Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia, said section relating to powers of local authorities.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new chapter numbered 211-A and nine new sections numbered from 5222-a to 5222-i, both inclusive, all of which sections are embraced in such new chapter, the object of which is to provide for the regulating by the governing bodies of counties, cities, and towns, of the subdivision of lands within their territorial limits or adjacent thereto, into lots, streets and alleys and other public areas; to provide for the making and recording of plats of such subdivisions, and certain certificates with respect thereto; to provide how such regulations and plats shall be approved, and how such plats may be vacated; and to repeal sections 5217, 5218, 5219, 5220, 5221 and 5222 of the Code of Virginia, and Chapter 150 of the Acts of Assembly of 1922, approved March 10, 1922, and Chapter 468 of the Acts of Assembly of 1924, approved March 21, 1924, relating to the same matters, and all acts amendatory thereof, or of any part or parts thereof.
