An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 3 and 10 of Chapter 386 of the Acts of Assembly of 1942, approved April 2, 1942, relating to the compensation and expenses of sheriffs and sergeants and the cities to which the chapter is applicable, so as to bring the city of Martinsville within the provisions of the chapter.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 19r and 105, as heretofore amended, and Sections 30 and 102 of an act to provide a new charter for the City of Richmond, approved March 24, 1926.
An ACT to provide that in counties having a certain density of population, persons engaged in the business of selling pistols or revolvers at retail shall register with and obtain certain permits from the chief of police; to require any person desiring to purchase any such weapon to obtain a permit so to do; and to provide that no person obtaining a permit to sell shall sell, give or furnish any such weapon to any person unless he delivers to the dealer a permit. obtained under the provisions of this act; and to prescribe penalties for violations.

An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 6, as amended, of Chapter 342 of the Acts of Assembly of 1932, approved March 26, 1932, short title of which is “The Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia”, the section relating to certain powers and duties of the Commissioner of the Division of Motor Vehicles and the Superintendent of State Police, respectively.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 4 of Chapter 386 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Virginia of 1942, approved April 2, 1942, relating to the payment of salaries of sheriffs of counties, and with certain exceptions, sergeants of cities, and to their full time deputies, and for the payment of expenses incurred by such officers; to abolish the fee system as a method of compensating such officers, etc., so as to provide for mileage to police officers in certain counties when the police officer acts in place of the sheriff.
An ACT to repeal Sections 1936, 1937 and 1938 in Chapter 80 of the Code of Virginia, relating to desertion and non-support; to amend the Code by adding in Chapter 80 seven new Sections numbered 1936, 1936-a, 1937, 1937-a, 1937-b, 1937-c and 1938, relating to the same subjects, to contain, with certain amendments, the same matters as the sections of the Code repealed and as contained in Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, as amended, of Chapter 416 of the Acts of Assembly of 1918, approved March 27, 1918, which relate to the same subjects : and to repeal Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4, and all amendments thereof, of Chapter 416 of the Acts of Assembly of 1918, approved March 27, 1918, relating to the same subjects.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 3 of Chapter 386 of the Acts of Assembly of 1942, approved April 2, 1942, relating to classification for purposes of advisory compensation of sheriffs and sergeants, so as to make certain change or changes.
An ACT to validate certain pay-roll checks of the Department of Highways, fraudulently obtained and used by William E. Cocke, a foreman on certain highway work, which were cashed and are now held by The Farmers National Bank of Salem.
An ACT to regulate the operation in certain respects of certain automotive vehicles under certain circumstances with a view to promotion of the greater safety of life, limb and property: and to such end, to provide for the administration and enforcement of the provisions thereof; to confer certain powers and to impose certain duties upon certain public officials and agencies ; to provide for the suspension and revocation of licenses, registrations and license plates under certain circumstances; to provide for the making of rules and regulations by certain public officials and agencies within the guiding principles prescribed thereby in connection with the administration and enforcement thereof; to provide for furnishing of certain security under certain circumstances on the part of persons involved in automotive vehicle accidents ; to provide for furnishing proof of financial responsibility as to the future under certain circumstances on the part of persons involved in automotive vehicle accidents; to prescribe the terms and conditions upon which requisite security or proof may be supplied by bond, deposit or insurance policies ; to provide for assignment of risks amongst insurance carriers under certain circumstances ; to prescribe certain penalties; to repeal expressly certain specified act or acts: to repeal generally all inconsistent acts or parts of acts; to make certain appropriations ; and to prescribe certain effective date or dates.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 566 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to the composition and appointment of the State Board of Accountancy.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 79 of the Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia concerning the use of highways and streets by pedestrians and permitting cities of more than sixty-five thousand population to adopt ordinances regulating the use of certain highways and streets by pedestrians.
An ACT to authorize and empower governing bodies of counties ad-joining any city with a population of one hundred ninety thousand or more, lying wholly within this State, to establish, furnish and provide for police departments and police forces in such counties; to provide for the appointment, functions, powers, duties and compensation of police officers, chiefs of police and police clerks and dispatchers in such counties; and to authorize the appropriation of funds for the retirement of the members of such police departments.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new section numbered 4797-a, providing that certain fees and mileage for services of special policemen in counties shall be taxed and collected and paid into the treasury of the counties, and that part-time deputy sheriffs may serve as county policemen.
