1936
An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2868 of the Code of Virginia relating to jailors and jails in the Commonwealth.
An ACT to amend and re-enact section 4942 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the transfer of certain persons to the penitentiary, how death sentence shall be executed and who shall be present and the duties of the superintendent of the penitentiary relating thereto.
An ACT to amend and re-enact section 15 of an act entitled an act to amend and re-enact all acts creating and amending the charter of the city of Charlottesville, and to provide a charter and special form of government for the said city, and to repeal all acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act, so far as they relate to the city of Charlottesville, approved March 24, 1922, relating to certain powers of the city council, and to further amend the said act by adding thereto a new section to be numbered section 26%, authorizing the city council to appoint a city jailor and such deputy jailors as may be necessary and to fix their compensation, and prescribing the powers and duties of such jailors.
An ACT to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the town of Independence, in the county of Grayson, approved March 27, 1934, by adding thereto a new section numbered 7-a, providing how persons convicted of violating town ordinances may be required to work on the streets and roads in said town.

An ACT to provide a new charter for the town of Gate City, in the county of Scott, and to repeal all acts and parts of acts inconsistent therewith, and to provide for a referendum.
An ACT to provide a new charter for the town of Iron Gate, Alleghany County, Virginia; to repeal all acts, or parts of acts in conflict therewith: and to validate all contracts heretofore or hereafter made by the present council and government while in office not inconsistent with this charter or the Constitution and general laws of this State; and to repeal all former charters of the town of Iron Gate.

An ACT to provide a new charter for the Town of Kenbridge, in the County of Lunenburg, and to repeal all acts or parts of acts in conflict therewith.
An ACT to provide for the payment of salaries to sheriffs of counties and, with certain exceptions, sergeants of cities, and to their full-time deputies, and for the payment of expenses incurred by such officers: to abolish the fee system as a method of compensating such officers; to provide for payment of the cost of the feeding and clothing of, and medicines and medical attention for, persons confined in jails and on jail farms; to make certain other provisions incident to the abolition of the said fee system; and to repeal certain acts in conflict with the provisions of this act.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 2854 of the Code of Virginia, as heretofore amended, relating to courthouses, clerks’ offices, jails, and other public property.
An ACT to provide a new charter for the Town of North Tazewell, in the County of Tazewell, and to repeal all acts or parts of acts in conflict therewith.

An ACT to provide for the administration, control and supervision of the penal system of the Commonwealth and of the political subdivisions thereof, to that end to establish a Department of Corrections to consist of a State Board of Corrections, a Commissioner of Corrections, and the officers, agents and employees of the Board and the Commissioner, and to prescribe the functions, powers and duties thereof and of certain other officers and of the subdivisions of the State with reference to the foregoing matters.

An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 13 of Chapter 217 of the Acts of Assembly ot 1942, approved March 13, 1942, relating to consolidated jails and jail farms.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 4, 6, 8 and 9 of Chapter 386 of the Acts of Assembly of 1942, approved April 2, 1942, relating to the compensation and expenses of sheriffs and sergeants, the feeding and care of jail prisoners and the payment of the costs thereof, the method of keeping and certifying accounts covering such costs, the furnishing of unusual medical, hospital and dental service to prisoners, and prohibiting the use of prisoners in certain instances.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 2, 4, 11 and 13, as amended, of Chapter 214 of the Acts of Assembly of 1926, approved March 19, 1926, relating to the State Farm for Defective Misdemeanants and other State farms, so as to permit persons confined in local jails to be transferred to and maintained at such farm or farms, to provide a per diem allowance for certain prisoners confined at State farms, and to prescribe the daily per capita allowance for maintaining prisoners at the State Farm for Defective Misdemeanants and other State farms.
An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 5017 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, relating to the record to be kept of conduct of convicts and the credit to be allowed convicts for good conduct; and to repeal Section 7 of Chapter 218 of the Acts of Assembly of 1942, approved March 13, 1942, relating to abolition of time off for good behavior.

AN ACT to amend and reenact § 10, as amended, of Chapter 180 of the Acts of Assembly of 1884, approved February 19, 1884, amended and reenacted by Chapter 52 of the Acts of Assembly of 1888, approved January 30, 1888, which chapter provided a charter for the town of South Boston, so as to provide for the assessment of the cost of making and improving the walkways upon then existing streets, and improving and paving then existing alleys, and for either the construction, or for the use of sewers.
