An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of the county of Nansemond and the council of the city of Suffolk to provide for the remodeling of the present jail and jailor’s house of said county, or for the erection of a new jail and jailor’s house, same to be jointly owned, used and maintained by said county and city on such terms and conditions as may be agreed upon by said board of supervisors and city council, and to authorize and empower said board of supervisors and city council to borrow money and issue bonds or notes for said purposes.

An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2094 of the code of Virginia, as amended by an act approved March 4, 1920, in relation to jail prisoners on road or quarry force and the credit to be allowed them for good behavior.
An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of the county of Elizabeth City to borrow the sum of ten thousand ($10,000.00) dollars, and to issue the bonds of said county therefor, the purpose of refunding an issue of bonds in the sum of ten thousand ($10,000.00) dollars, issued by the board of supervisors of Elizabeth City county on the fifteenth day of June, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, pursuant to resolution of said board of supervisors adopted on the fifteenth day of June, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, for the purpose of rebuilding the county jail and making necessary repairs to the county clerk’s office of the county of Elizabeth City, and to authorize and require the said board of supervisors to levy a tax upon all property subject to local taxation in said county, sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds and to create a sinking fund to retire the principal thereof at maturity.
An ACT to validate an ordinance of the city of Hopewell adopted by the city council of the city of Hopewell on the 29th day of August, 1927, authorizing the issue of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) worth of bonds, twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) of which is to be used to construct a jail and twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) of which is to be used to institute and maintain sewerage and culverts and other public improvements in the city of Hopewell, and to validate an election held on the 8th day of November, 1927, submitting to the qualified voters of the city of Hopewell the right to pass on the issuing of said bonds, pursuant to chapter 122, of the Code of Virginia; and authorizing the city of Hopewell to issue fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) worth of bonds, twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) as jail bonds and twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) as sewerage and other public improvement bonds.
An ACT to authorize and empower the board of supervisors of the county of Elizabeth City to borrow the sum of thirty thousand ($350,000.00) dollars, and to issue the bonds of said county therefor, for the purpose of paying the expenses incurred by the county in making additions to the county jail and installing new cells therein; making additions to the record vault of the clerk's office and installing new fixtures therein; adding one jury room to the courthouse for the use of petit and grand jurors, and for installing a central heating plant in the addition to the jail for the purpose of heating said jail and courthouse of said county, and to authorize and require the said board of supervisors to levy a tax upon all property subject to local taxation in said county, sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds and create a sinking fund to retire the principal thereof at maturity.

An ACT to amend and re-enact section 4953 of the Code of Virginia, relating to confinement in jail until fine and costs or costs, are paid.
An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by enacting and incorporating therein, a new section to be designated as section 4952-a, providing that persons confined in jail until certain fines and/or costs are paid, may be released on bail, and fixing the liability of the sureties thereon.
An ACT to amend and re-enact section 2854 of the Code of Virginia, as heretofore amended, relating to courthouses, clerk’s offices, jails and jailors.

An ACT to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the town of Boone Mill, in the county of Franklin, Virginia, approved April 11, 1927, by adding a new section thereto to be designated as section 8-a, providing how persons convicted of violating town ordinances may be punished ; to amend and re-enact section 9 of the said act, said section being in relation to the rate of tax the town may levy; and to provide for a referendum on the question of the adoption of said amendment.
An ACT to amend and re-enact subsection (d) of section twenty-nine of chapter sixty-four of the Acts of nineteen hundred and twenty-two, entitled an act to provide a new charter for the city of Suffolk and to repeal the existing charter of said city and the several acts amendatory thereof and all other acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act so far as they relate to the said city of Suffolk, approved February twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred and twenty-two; to amend and re-enact subsection (z) of section two of said chapter sixty-four of the Acts of nineteen hundred and twenty-two as here- tofore amended by an act approved February eleventh, nineteen hundred and thirty-two; and to amend and re-enact chapter two hundred and one of the Acts of nineteen hundred and thirty, entitled an act to amend and re-enact subsection (b) of section thirty-four of chapter sixty-four of the Acts of nineteen hundred and twenty-two, entitled an act to provide a new charter for the city of Suffolk, and to repeal the existing charter of said city and the several acts amendatory thereof and all other acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act, so far as they relate to the said city of Suffolk, approved February twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred and twenty-two, and to add eight new and additional subsections to said section thirty-four, to be known and designated as subsections (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i), and (j), with reference to the sale of real estate delinquent for the non-payment of city taxes, purchase by the city, redemption of land so sold, saving to persons under disability, deed to purchasers, title of purchasers, title of city, and sale for the non-payment of local assessments, etc., approved March twenty-second, nineteen hundred and thirty, as amended by chapter four hundred and two of the Acts of nineteen hundred and thirty-two, approved March thirtieth, nineteen hundred and thirty-two.
An ACT to amend and re-enact section 4956 of the Code of Virginia, relating to allowance to jail physicians, and furnishing medicine and clothing for persons in jail, so as to authorize counties to supplement, to a certain extent, the allowance for jail physicians.
