Chap. 261.—An ACT to provide that inquests over the bodies of persons who
meet with sudden, violent, unnatural or suspicious death, or who die without
medical attention, where the death, or the injury which resulted in death,
occurred in Henrico county and the dead body, or the person so injured, is
taken to any morgue, hospital or other place in the city of Richmond, shall
be held by the coroner of said county. [H B 186]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That where
any person meet with sudden, violent, unnatural or suspicious death,
or die without medical attendance, and such death, or an accident which
resulted in such death, occurred in Henrico county and the dead body,
or the person so injured and before death occurs, shall be taken to any
morgue, hospital or other place in the city or Richmond, it shall be
the duty of the physician, undertaker, or other person in attendance,
to notify the coroner of Henrico county, or the person designated to
perform the duties of coroner, that such death has occurred and where
the dead body may be found, and when so notified, the said coroner
of Henrico county, or the person designated to perform the duties of
coroner shall, unless he shall have previously done so, view the body
and take such action as may seem proper under, and in accordance
with the general provisions of chapter one hundred and ninety of the
Code of Virginia.
