Chap. 24.—An ACT to provide a new Registration in the county of
) Fairfax.
Approved August 27, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be the duty of the board of supervisors of the county
of Fairfax, forthwith to appoint five citizens of that county
commissioners, who shall be charged with the duty of laying
off the magisterial districts of the said county of Fairfax
into election precincts, in accordance with the general laws
on the subject of the formation of election precincts, so that
the places of voting and holding elections in said county shall
not be changed, but shall remain as they were on the first
day of July, eighteen hundred and eighty-four. And the
said commissioners shall return their report, showing the
metes and bounds of the election precincts to the September
term of the county court of Fairfax county.
2. That each of the registrars of the several election pre-
cincts of the county of Fairfax, shall on Monday, the thir-
teenth of October, eighteen hundred and eighty-four, proceed
to register the names of all the qualified voters of his pre-
cinct who reside therein, and according to law are entitled to
registration, giving notice of the time and place thereof for
at least ten days before commencing such registration, by
publication of said notice in the Fairfax Herald, a news-
paper published in the county of Fairfax, and by posting
notice thereof at not less than five public places within his
precinct. Said registrars shall complete said registration
within six days from the time of commencing the same, and
immediately after completing the said registrations, shall
cause to be posted at three or more public places in their
respective precincts, lists of all persons admitted by them to
registration.’
3. In all other respects, except as herein provided, the
duties of said registrars shall be as prescribed in the general
registration laws of the state, and in making said registra-
tion, and in all registrations hereafter, the registrars shall in
every particular except as herein provided, be guided and
controlled by the said general registration laws of the state;

arid amended in the mode prescriled in such laws. The regis-
tration made under this act shall take the place of all regis-
trations heretofore made in said county.
4, The secretary of the commonwealth shall furnish the
clerk of the county court of the county of Fairfax, with so
many registration books as may be necessary to carry out
" the provisions of this act.
5. This act shall be in force from its passage.
