Chap. 295.—An ACT requiring the Registration of Charters of alien
e Mining Companies. |
Approved March 4, 1884.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly ot Virginia, That
each and every company now chartered under the laws of
any other state to carry on business as a mining, manufac-
turing, or land company, and whose property is located in
this state, and each and every company that may hereafter
be so chartered, shall have its principal office in the state of
Virginia, and a representative who shall be an officer of such
company, upon whom process may be served, and who shall
reside in this state.
2. Every such company now in existence, shall, within
thirty days after the passage ef this act, file with the clerk
of the circuit court of the county in which such property is
located, a certified copy of its charter, and also name the
location of its principal office; and every such company that
may hereafter come into existence, shall, within thirty days
after organization, file a certified copy of its charter in the
same manner, and it shall be the duty of said clerk to record
the same in a book kept for that purpose, and to transmit to
the secretary of the commonwealth, within ten days after
receipt of such certified copy, a copy of said record, and his
fee in each case shall be ten dollars, the same to be paid by
the company sending a certified copy of its charter to be
recorded as above provided.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
