Chap. 33. An ACT to authorize the State Highway Commissioner of Virginia
to convey to K. E. Harman and Laura J. Harman a certain parcel of real
estate in Pulaski county no longer needed for highway purposes. [H B 26]

Whereas, the Commonwealth of Virginia secured a certain piece
of real estate in Pulaski county from K. E. Harman and Laura J.
Harman by deed dated October thirtieth, nineteen hundred and thirty,
and recorded in deed book sixty-five, page four hundred and fifty-
seven, in the clerk’s office of the circuit court of Pulaski county,
which said strip or parcel of land is fully described in said deed; and
Whereas, a part of the said strip or parcel of land so secured is
no longer needed for highway purposes and it is the desire of the said
K. E. Harman and Laura J. Harman that that portion of the said
parcel which is no longer needed for highway purposes be conveyed
to them by the Commonwealth of Virginia; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
State Highway Commissioner be, and he is hereby authorized and em-
powered in the name and on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia,
to convey to K. E. Harman and Laura J. Harman, by appropriate and
proper deed, all of the right, title, and interest of the Commonwealth
in and to the following parcel of land, to-wit:
Beginning at a point on the centerline of route eleven from four
and two hundred seventy-six one-thousandths miles west of west
corporate limits of Dublin to east corporate limits of Pulaski ‘shown
on plans as station seven hundred thirty-one plus naught naught,
being the points of encroachment; thence to the right with a six
degree curve, one hundred sixty and one-tenth feet to station seven
hundred thirty-two plus sixty and one-tenth; thence south thirty-three
degrees forty-two minutes west, two hundred thirty-nine and nine-
tenths feet to the point of digression, being station seven hundred
thirty-five plus naught naught.
The land conveyed hereunder being a strip or parcel of varying
width lying on the east (left) side of and adjacent to the normal
right of way line, which is forty feet distant from and parallel to the
hereinabove described centerline and being none and no tenths feet
in width at a point forty feet opposite station seven hundred thirty-one
plus naught naught; thence widening with the center of the old road
to eighteen feet at a point forty feet opposite station seven hundred
thirty-one plus fifty; thence widening with the center of the old road
to twenty-six feet at a point forty feet opposite station seven hundred
thirty-two plus naught naught; thence widening with the center of the
old road to thirty-eight feet at a point forty feet opposite station seven
hundred thirty-two plus eight; thence continuing thirty-eight feet in
width to a point forty feet opposite station seven hundred thirty-three
plus eighty-five; thence narrowing with the center of the old road
to none and no tenths feet at a point forty feet opposite station seven
hundred thirty-five plus naught naught.
Said strip or parcel contains twenty-four one-hundredths acre,
more or less.
The above described strip or parcel may be further described as
being all of that parcel of land lying between the normal right of way
line, which is forty feet distant from and parallel to the centerline of
the new location of the highway, and the center of the old road and 1s
shown outlined in red on blueprint entitled “Sketch of a portion of
sheet No. 14, State Highway Project 497-H, Route 11, Scale 1”
equals. 100’, 12-15-36,” and now on file in the office of the Department
of Highways at Richmond, Virginia.
2. Nothing in this act shall be construed to relinquish or release
any right that the public now has in the old public road referred to
in the above description and which is also shown on the said blueprint
map. ,
3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
