Chap. 17. An ACT to authorize and ratify a conveyance by the State Highway
- Commissioner of the interest of the Commonwealth in a certain strip or
parcel of land in Albemarle county, Virginia, which is no longer needed

for highway purposes, to the Albemarle Oil and Gas Company, Incorporated,
in exchange for a parcel of land which has been conveyed by the Albemarle
Oil and Gas Company, Incorporated, to the Commonwealth of Virginia and
- which is needed for highway purposes. [H B 27]

Whereas, the Commonwealth of Virginia secured certain real estate
in Albemarle county, Virginia, from the executors of the estate of
E. G. Haden, by a deed dated June twenty-second, nineteen hundred
and thirty-five, and recorded in the clerk’s office of the circuit court
of said county, in deed book two hundred and twenty-eight, page five
hundred and forty-nine, which included a strip or parcel of land here-
inafter described, fronting on the property of the Albemarle Oil and
Gas Company, Incorporated, which is no longer needed for highway
purposes ; and

Whereas, the Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Department
of Highways, was desirous of securing from the Albemarle Oil and
Gas Company, Incorporated, a parcel of land containing fifteen one-
hundredths of an acre, located in Albemarle county, Virginia, to be
used as a part of the State highway number two hundred and fifty; and

Whereas, the said Albemarle Oil and Gas Company, Incorporated,
has conveyed the said strip or parcel of land, containing fifteen one-
hundredths of an acre, to the Commonwealth of Virginia, by deed dated
October twenty-eighth, nineteen hundred and thirty-six and recorded
in said clerk’s office in deed book two hundred and thirty-four, page
seventy-six; a part of the consideration for said conveyance being
the conveyance by the Commonwealth of. Virginia to the Albemarle
Oil and Gas Company of that certain parcel of land hereinafter
described; now therefore:

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
conveyance by the State Highway Commissioner in the name of the
Commonwealth of Virginia to the Albemarle Oil and Gas Company,
Incorporated, of that certain strip or parcel of land situated south of
and adjacent to proposed route two hundred and fifty, and being
all of that strip or parcel lying on the south (left) side of the
thirty foot right of way line between station two hundred and eleven
plus sixty-five period minety-eight and station two hundred and thir-
teen plus thirty-two, by a deed dated October twenty-eighth, nineteen
hundred and thirty-six, and recorded in said clerk’s office in deed book
two hundred and thirty-four, page seventy-six, be and the same is
hereby authorized, confirmed and ratified. |

2. The said parcel of land conveyed by the State Highway Com-
missioner to the Albemarle Oil and Gas Company, Incorporated, 1s
designated as that parcel colored in solid yellow on a plat attached to a
deed between the said parties, dated October twenty-eighth, nineteen
hundred and thirty-six, and recorded in said clerk’s office in deed book
two hundred and thirty-four, page seventy-six.

3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in full force and effect

upon its passage.
