An Act to amend and reenact § 54-260.60 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to cremation certificates and the fee required therefor.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. f toon § 54-260.60 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 54-260.60. Cremation certificate required; fee; copy of certificate
to be filed with Chief Medical Examiner.—It shall be unlawful to cremate
the body of a deceased person until a medical examiner shall have certified
in writing that he has viewed the body and made personal inquiry into
the cause and manner of death and is of the opinion that no further
examination or judicial inquiry concerning the same is necessary. * A
fee * of ten dollars shall be paid the medical examiner for such certificate
by the person making application therefor, and a copy of such certificate
shall be promptly filed by the medical examiner in the office of the Chief
Medical Examiner at Richmond.
