CHAPTER 90

An Act to amend and reenact § 24-164, as amended, of the Code of Vir-
ginia, requiring separate clerk of circuit court in certain cities; ez-
— ceptions.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 24-164, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:

§ 24-164. Clerks in cities of thirty thousand.—lIn cities having a
population of thirty thousand or more, except the cities of Charlottes-
ville, Danville, Roanoke, Lynchburg and Petersburg, there shall be elected
by the qualified voters a separate clerk of the circuit court of such city
on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, nineteen hundred
and fifty-one, and every eight years thereafter, whose term of office shall
begin on the first day of January, succeeding his election and continue
thereafter for eight years.
