CHAPTER 705

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
15.1-1246.1, so as to provide that any authority created under the
Virginia Water and Sewer Authority Act may amend their charter in
certain respects and to validate previous action. rH 1158)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numberec
15.1-1246.1, as follows:

§ 15.1-1246.1. Any authority created under the provisions of this
chapter may apply to the State Corporation Commission for an amend-
ment to its charter authorizing changes therein in the following particu-
lars: (a) To change its name; (b) to be empowered to engage in the financ-
ing, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of water systems
for general public; and (c) to be empowered to do any act which it might
have been authorized to do under the provisions of this chapter and about
which its charter is otherwise silent. If the State Corporation Commission
finds that such amendments conform to law and to the requirements of this
chapter, it shall by order issue a certificate of amendment, which shall be
admitted to record in its office upon the issuance of such certificate. It shall
become effective in accordance with its terms.

2. Any acts done heretofore by any authority in conformity with this
section are hereby validated.
3. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
