An Act to provide for the gradual revision of the Code of Virginia under
the direction of the Virginia Code Commission; to provide for a study
and revision of Titles 27, 88, 84, 85, 86, 40, 41, ae 48 and 58 of the
Code of Virginia; and to appropriate "funds to the Virginia Code
Commission.

‘- it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1, § 1. The Code of Virginia shall be gradually revised by revising one
or more titles at a time. In revising each title, all other sections of the Code
relating to the same subject matter shall be revised to the extent neces-
sary. Experts shall be employed by the Virginia Code Commission to
assist in the project. The Commission may also accept the services of
qualified volunteers who are willing to serve without pay. Tentative drafts
of proposed revisions should be printed and circulated among interested
persons and their comments solicited.
2. The Commission shall undertake the revision of Titles 27, 33,
84, 35, 36, 40, 41, 42, 43 and 53 of the Code of Virginia and submit to the
Governor ‘and the General Assembly. on or before October one, nineteen
hundred sixty-nine, a report of its recommendations, together with sug-
gestive legislation necessary to carry such recommendations into effect. No
substantive change shall be incorporated in such revisions, however, the
Commission may suggest substantive change in each title being revised
and submit separately legislation purposed to carry out each such
recommendation.
§ 3. The Commission is authorized to expend funds made available
to it by this act for the purpose of paying the expenses of members of the
Commission and the expenses of members of committees selected by it,
when engaged in the performance of duties imposed by this act, as well
as the salaries and expenses of persons employed by the Commission to
work on the revision of the titles of the Code herein mentioned, and other
expenses of the Commission properly chargeable to the project.
2. There is hereby appropriated to the Virginia Code Commission, to be
used solely for the purposes set forth above, a sum sufficient, estimated at
twenty-five thousand dollars.
