CHAPTER 525
An Act to amend and reenact §§ 58-206.9, 53-206.10 and 58-206.11 of the
Code of Virginia, relating to expenses of regional jails and jail farms;
transportation of prisoners thereto; contributions thereto by the State.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: oo.
1. That §§ 53-206.9, 53-206.10 and 53-206.11 of the Code of Virginia be
amended and reenacted as follows: ; ;
§ 53-206.9. Jail or jail farm expenses.— * Except as provided tn
§ 58-206.11, the expenses of operating and maintaining such jail or jail
farm, supporting the prisoners working thereon, including board, cloth-
ing and medical attention, shall be borne by the participating counties
and/or cities. Such participation shall be based on the percentage of the
total cost for such operation that the number of prisoner days bears to the
total number of prisoner days confined therein, plus their proportionate
part of the fixed cost for such maintenance and operation.
§ 53-206.10. Transportation of prisoners to jail or jail farm.—
Except as provided in § 53-206.11, each county and/or city participating
in such jail or jail farm shall bear the * cost of transporting its prisoners
to and from the said jail or jail farm. ;
§ 53-206.11. * The State Board * shall reimburse the counties
and/or cities operating any such regional jail or jail farm for such pro-
portionate part of the reasonable cost of maintaining such jatl in the
same manner as provided in § 58-179.
