CHAPTER 491
An Act to provide that the Department of Health in certain counties may
be a division of the State Board of Health; how supervised; boards
of such counties may supplement salaries; to repeal all acts or parts of
acts inconsistent or in conflict with this act.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1, § 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in any county
having a population of more than five thousand persons per square mile
and having the county manager plan of government, the governing body
of such county, may, by ordinance, provide that the Department of Health
may be a division of the State Board of Health which shall supervise the
same in the same manner as other county Departments of Health under
its supervision, subject to the provisions of § 32-40.1. The county board of
such county may, in its discretion, provide for the supplementation of
salaries, from county funds, of State employees in such division.
2. All acts or parts of acts which are in conflict with or inconsistent
with this act, are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict or incon-
sistency.
