An Act to amend and reenact §§ 14.1-166 and 14.1-167, as amended, of
the Code of Virginia, relating to contributions by local governing
bodies toward the compensation of deputy circuit court clerks and
other Court employees in certain counties. P

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 14.1-166 and 14.1-167, as amended, of the Code of Virginia
be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 14.1-166. Contribution towards compensation of deputy circuit
court clerk in certain counties.—The governing body of any county having
a population of less than twenty-five thousand or a county having a popula-
tion of not less than forty-one thousand nor more than forty-four thousand
five hundred or of any county having a population of not less than twenty-
siz thousand nor more than twenty-seven thousand, or of any county
having a population of not less than twenty thousand nor more than
twenty thousand two hundred fifty, may contribute from funds derived
from the general county levy such sum or sums as, in its discretion, it deems
proper towards the salary or compensation of the deputy * clerks of the
circuit court of the county. All such payments heretofore made by such
counties are hereby validated and confirmed. ae
§ 14.1-167. Contribution towards compensation of deputy circuit
court clerks and other court employees in certain counties.—The governing
body of any county have a population of less than twenty-three thousand
or of a county having a population of not less than twenty-six thousand nor
more than twenty-seven thousand, or of any county having a population
of not less than twenty thousand nor more than twenty thousand two
hundred fifty, may contribute from funds derived from the general county
levy such sum or sums as, in its discretion, it deems proper towards the
salary or compensation of the deputy clerk and other employees of the
circuit court of the county.
