An Act to amend and reenact § 54-112.19, as amended, of the Code of
Virginia, relating to fees for renewal of certificates of registered
professional hairdressers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 54-112.19, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended
and reenacted as follows:
§ 54-112.19. Fee for renewal of certificate— * Every “registered
professional hairdresser” shall biennially pay to the Department of Pro-
fessional and Occupational Registration a fee of * ten dollars for the
renewal of his certificate. * For the purpose of this chapter, a biennium
shall commence on January first of each odd-numbered year. In the event
a renewal certificate is issued during the second year of any biennium,
such certificate shall expire December thirty-first of such year and the
fee therefor shall be five dollars.
If any licensee fails to renew his certificate as above provided within
one year from the last expiration date shown on his last valid certificate,
his certificate shall automatically be revoked; but such certificate may be
renewed at any time within a five year period from the expiration date
of his last valid certificate by paying a penalty fee in the amount of fifteen
dollars. Any certificate holder who fails to renew his certificate for a
period of five years shall be required to file a new application and qualify
for such certificate by passing an examination provided for in this chapter.
