An Act to amend and reenact § 15.1-482 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the composition of regional planning commissions. rH 299)

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. p That § 15.1-432 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 15.1-482. Establishment, members, rules, etc., of regional planning
commissions; cooperation of participating counties and municipalities;
bonds of employees.—(a) The governing bodies of any two or more coun-
ties or municipalities which authorize the establishment of membership
in, and support of, a regional planning commission shall determine the
number and qualification of the members of any such commission, their
terms of office and method of appointment or removal. * Members of a
regional planning commission shall serve without salary but may be
reimbursed for expenses incurred in the performance of their duties. The
commission shall elect a chairman who shall serve for a fixed term not
exceeding four years and who shall not be eligible for re-election as chair-
man for the ensuing term. The commission may create and fill such other
offices as it deems necessary.
(b) Every commission shall adopt rules for the transaction of busi-
ness and shall keep a record of its transactions which record shall be a
public record. Each participating county or municipality may, upon re-
quest of the commission, assign to the commission any employees to make
special surveys or studies requested by the commission. All officials of
participating counties and municipalities, upon request, shall furnish to
the commission such available information as it requires.
(c) A commission may require its employees who receive and dis-
burse funds of the commission to be bonded.
(d) Any regional planning and economic development commission
heretofore created may in its discretion delete the words “economic de-
velopment” from its name but such change shall not affect or limit the
powers and duties of such commission.
