An Act to amend and reenact §§ 18.1-425 and 18.1-427 of the Code of
Virginia, relating to mutilating or committing other acts to flags or
similar standards; penalties for violation. rH 1161]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 18.1-425-and 18.1-427 of the Code of Virginia be amended
and reenacted as follows:
§ 18.1-425. Mutilating, defacing, etc—No person shall publicly burn
with contempt, mutilate, deface, defile, trample upon, or by word or act
cast contempt upon any such flag, standard, color, ensign or shield.
§ 18.1-427. Penalty.—Any violation of * this article shall be a mis-
demeanor and punishable accordingly.
