An Act to amend and reenact § 54-775.8 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to fees for registration and examination of Registered and Associate
Social Workers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 54-775.8 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 54-775.8. Fees; renewal of registration; expenditures.—(a) The
following fees shall be collected by the Board in connection with applica-
tions for registration and renewals: (1) Application fee for registration
as a registered social worker or associate social worker, ten dollars;
provided that applicants holding current registration with the Virginia
Board for Voluntary Registration of Social Workers on June twenty-seven,
nineteen hundred sixty-six, shall pay a registration fee of five dollars;
(2) annual fee for renewal of registration, five dollars, which shall be due
and payable each year on or before January one; (3) any person who
fails to pay the annual renewal fee on or before March one of any year
shall in addition to the renewal fee be charged a delinquency fee of five
ollars.
(b) Any person who fails to renew his registration for a period of
more than three years shall be stricken from the rolls and his registration
may be renewed only after meeting the requirements of this chapter.
(c) All funds collected by the Board shall be paid into the general
fund of the State treasury and are hereby appropriated to the Board for
the purpose of administering and enforcing this chapter. The expenditures
of the Board shall not in any year exceed the amount of fees collected by
the Board for that year.
(d) In addition to the fees set forth hereinabove, the Board shall
charge each applicant an examination fee of fifteen dollars when an examir-
mation 1s required of the applicant under the provisions of this chapter.
Such examination fee shall be payable at the time the application for
registration 1s made to the Board; the fee fixed herein shall not be refund-
able.
