An Act to amend and reenact § 1 of Chapter 604 of the Acts of Assembly
of 1962, approved March 81, 1962, authorizing The College of William
and Mary tn Virginia, the University of Virginia and Virginia Poly-
technic Institute to enter into a joint agreement and to contract with
the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for the operation
and management of a space radiation effects laboratory in the area
of Hampton Roads, Virginia, so as to authorize the Medical College of
Virginia to become a party to such agreement and such contract.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 1 of Chapter 604 of the Acts of Assembly of 1962, approved
March 31, 1962, be amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 1. The governing bodies of The College of William and Mary in
Virginia, the University of Virginia, * Virginia Polytechnic Institute *
and the Medical College of Virginia, or duly authorized committees of such
governing bodies, are hereby authorized and empowered to enter into a
joint agreement on behalf of their respective institutions for the operation
and management of a space radiation effects laboratory to be constructed
by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in the area of
Hampton Roads, Virginia. The joint agreement shall be approved by reso-
lution of the governing bodies of each institution, duly entered upon the
minutes thereof, and shall be executed on behalf of each institution by an
official designated in such resolution. The governing bodies of said institu-
tions, or duly authorized committees thereof, are also authorized and em-
powered to negotiate and execute a contract with the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration for the operation and management of such
space radiation effects laboratory by said institutions in conformity with
the terms and conditions of the joint agreement.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
