CHAPTER 619
An Act to authorize certain counties, cities, and towns to pay funds to the
Commonwealth, or any political subdivision or agency thereof, and
authorize the Commonwealth or any potitical subdivision or agency
thereof to receive funds for certain purposes. CH 768]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. The governing bodies of the following counties and cities and
the governing bodies of any cities and towns located within or adjacent to
any of the following counties may appropriate funds to be paid to the
Commonwealth of Virginia or any political subdivision or agency thereof
and may pay or donate such funds to the Commonwealth for the purpose
of acquiring land located in one or more of the said counties for the site
of a State hospital for the custody, care and treatment of mentally
retarded persons: Prince William, Loudoun, Fauquier, Arlington and Fair-
fax; and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax. The Common-
wealth or any political subdivision or agency thereof, is hereby authorized
to accept and receive funds from the governing bodies of any of the said
named counties and to accept and receive funds from the governing bodies
of any cities or towns within or adjacent to the said named counties for
the purpose of acquiring land located in one or more of the said counties
for the site of a State hospital for the custody, care and treatment of
mentally retarded persons. , My
The governing bodies of any of the named counties in this section and
the governing bodies of any cities or towns within the boundaries of the
said named counties may convey to the Commonwealth, or any political
subdivision or agency thereof, by deed of gift which may be accepted by
the Governor on behalf of the Commonwealth or any political subdivision
or agency thereof, any land, either heretofore or hereafter acquired, which
is not required for the purposes of such county or city as determined in
the discretion of the governing body thereof; provided such land is to be
used for the establishment, operation or maintenance for a State hospital
for the mentally retarded.
