CHAPTER 56

An Act to authorize the Visitors of Madison College, with the approval of
the Governor, to convey certain property of Madison College and to
prescribe the conditions therefor. 'S 179]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Visitors of Madison College, with the approval of the Gov-
ernor in writing, is authorized to convey to the city of Harrisonburg by
proper deed, in consideration for certain improvements upon East Grace
Street and West Grace Street in the city of Harrisonburg as approved by
the city council of that city on January 11, 1966, all or any portion of
those certain lots, pieces or parcels of land owned by Madison College in
the city of Harrisonburg and more particularly described as follows:

First: Beginning at a point in the eastern line of South Main
Street at the corner between Masters and the Commonwealth of Virginia
land (Madison College); thence with the southern lines of Masters S
4®° 09 E, 315.22 feet to a point, thence N 43° 01’ E, 3.00 feet to a
point, thence S 46° 59 E, 27.70 feet to a point, thence S 48° 01’ W, 15.20
feet to a point corner to Masters and the Commonwealth of Virginia
(Mladison College) ; thence along Masters southern line S 46° 59’ E, 335.33
feet to a point at the intersection of the western line of Mason Street
with the northern line of East Grace Street; thence along the extension
of the western line of Mason Street S 40° 43’ W, 35.03 feet to a point
at the back of the curb, the northeastern corner of a 5 foot strip; thence
along the eastern end of said 5 foot strip S 43° 01’ W, 5.00 feet to a pin;
thence along the southern line of said strip N 46° 59’ W, 337.33 feet to a
pin, thence lv 46° 01’ W, 121.70 feet to a point in the southern line of
said strip; thence making a new line through Madison College N. 48°
23’ W, 199.22 feet to a point in the line of Strip No. 2; thence along
the line of Strip No. 2 S 79° 13’ W, 380.48 feet to a point in the eastern
line of South Main Street, a corner in Strip No. 2; thence along the east-
ern line of Main Street N 40° 11’ E, 74.00 feet to the beginning. The
property here described includes those two parcels of real estate to which
reference is made in Chapter 80 of the Acts of Assembly of 1948, ap-
proved March 38, 1948 and in Chapter 29 of the Acts of Assembly of 1956
extra session, approved September 29, 1956.

Second: A 38.5 foot strip of land lying on the south side of West
Grace Street between Kwaliteed Hatchery Inc. land and a 15 foot public
alley on the west side of property owned by J. M. Warren and more
particularly described as follows:

Beginning at a point in the southern line of West Grace Street, the
northeastern corner of Kwaliteed Hatchery Inc. land; thence along the
existing southern line of West Grace Street S 55° 11’ E, 299.75 feet to
a point at the intersection of the southern line of West Grace Street with
the western line of a 15 foot public alley; thence along the western line of
said alley S 34° 49’ W., 3.50 feet to a point, a new corner in the Common-
wealth of Virginia land; thence making a new line through said Com-
monwealth of Virginia land, said line being 3.50 feet parallel and south
of the existing line of West Grace Street N 55° 11’ W, 299.75 feet to a
point in Kwaliteed Hatchery Inc. line; thence along the eastern line of
said Hatchery land N 34° 49’ E, 3.50 feet to the beginning and contains
1049 square feet more or less.

Third: A 38.50 foot strip along the southern side of West Grace
Street, a variable width strip around the southwestern corner of Grace
and Main Streets and a 5.50 foot strip lying on the western side of South
Main Street and more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at Point A in the southern line of West Grace Street, the
northeastern corner of J. M. Warren’s lot; thence along the existing
line of West Grace Street S 55° 11’ E, 230.62 feet to Point B, the point
of curvature of a 29.50 foot radius to the right along the back of the
existing curb; thence around said radius and along the back of existing
curb to Point C, (Chord Bearing S 10° 04’ E, 30.52 feet) ; thence along
the existing western line of South Main Street and along the back of the
existing curb S 40° 11’ W, 101.61 feet to Point D, a corner in the right-
of-way of South Main Street; thence along the existing line of South
Main Street and along the northern edge of an existing walk N 55° 32’
W, 5.52 feet to Point E, the northeastern corner of lands occupied by
Anthony Seeger Campus School; thence making a new line through the
Commonwealth of Virginia land (formerly Shifflet property) N 40° 11’ E,
93.00 feet to Point F, a point of curvature of a 30 foot radius to the
left; thence around said radius for an arc distance of 49.95 feet (chord
N 7° 30’ W, 44.37 feet) to Point G, said point being 3.50 feet parallel to
and south of the existing southern line of West Grace Street; thence
making a new line through the Commonwealth of Virginia land N 55° 11’
W, 207.32 feet to Point H., in J. M. Warren’s line; thence along J. M.
Warren’s line N 34° 49’ E, 3.50 feet to the beginning and contains 1660
square feet more or less.
