CHAPTER 553

An Act to permit the sheriffs of certain counties to receive additional
compensation for certain acts; validate previous payments.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. (a) The sheriff of any county having a population of more
than five thousand nine hundred and less than six thousand two hundred,
and who supervises the water supply of the county seat of such county
shall be entitled to be paid additional compensation for such supervision,
not to exceed twenty-five dollars per month, to be paid from the treasury
of such town.

(b) Any payment heretofore made to any such sheriff is hereby
validated.
