An Act to amend and reenact § 46.1-165 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to the prorating of certain license fees after certain periods.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 46.1-165 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 46.1-165.—One half of the annual fees prescribed by §§ 46.1-149,
46.1-150, 46.1-154 through 46.1-157 and 46.1-164 shall be collected when-
ever any registration certificate and license plates are issued during the
period beginning on the first day of October in any year, and ending on
the fifteenth day of January in the same license year, and one third of
such fees shall be collected whenever any registration certificate and
license plates are issued after the fifteenth day of January in any license
year; provided, however, that the fees for the certificate of registration
and license plates to be paid by the owner of any private motor vehicle
with a weight exceeding four thousand pounds, other than a motorcycle,
designed and used for the transportation of passengers not for compensa-
tion, when the same are issued after the fifteenth day of January in any
license year, shall be * siz dollars and fifty cents.
