CHAPTER 523
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
88.1-881.8, requiring applications for certain policies of motor vehicle
liability insurance to have printed thereon a warning concerning the
cancellability of such policies.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
38.1-381.3, as follows:
§ 38.1-381.8. In any application for the original issuance of a policy
of insurance covering liability arising out of the ownership, maintenance
or use of any motor vehicle shall have printed on or attached to the first
page of the application form in red ink in boldface type the following
legend: READ YOUR POLICY, “THE POLICY OF INSURANCE FOR
WHICH THIS APPLICATION IS BEING MADE, IF ISSUED, MAY BE
CANCELLED WITHOUT CAUSE AT THE OPTION OF THE INSURER
AT ANY TIME IN THE FIRST 60 DAYS DURING WHICH IT IS IN
EFFECT” AND AT ANY TIME THEREAFTER FOR REASONS
STATED IN THE POLICY.
This section shall not apply to the renewal of any such policy of
insurance.
