CHAPTER 499

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered $4-4.1,
so as to provide an additional homestead exemption for certain vet-
erans.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
84-4.1 as follows:

§ 34-4.1. Every veteran residing in this State having a service con-
nected disability of forty per centum or more, as rated by the Veterans
Administration of the United States, shall be entitled, in addition to the
property or estate which he is entitled to hold exempt from levy, distress
or garnishment under §§ 34-4, 34-26, 34-27, and 34-29, to hold exempt from
levy, seizure, garnishment or sale under any execution, order or process
issued on any demand for a debt or liability, his real and personal property,
or either, to be selected by him, including money and debts due him, to the
value of not exceeding one thousand dollars.
