An Act to amend und reenact § 10-8, as amended, of the Code of Virginia,
relating to Board of Conservation and Economic Development.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 10-3, as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended and
reenacted as follows:
§ 10-8. There shall be a Board of Conservation and Economic De-
velopment, hereafter in this title sometimes called the Board. The terms of
the members of the Board in office on June 27, 1958, are terminated.
Thereafter the Board shall consist of * twelve members to be appointed by
the Governor subject to confirmation by the General Assembly, if in session
when such appointments are made, at that session, or if not in session, at
the next succeeding session. Persons so appointed shall hold office at the
pleasure of the Governor for terms as follows: Of the initial appointments,
two shall be for terms of one year, two shall be for terms of two years, two
shall be for terms of three years, and three shall be for terms of four years
each, and thereafter all appointments shall be for terms of four years each.
No person shall be eligible to succeed himself as a member of the Board for
more than one term. Any vacancy shall be filled by the Governor for the
unexpired term. In making appointments, the Governor shall endeavor to
select appointees of such qualifications and experience that the membership
of the Board shall include persons suitably qualified to consider and act
upon the various special interests and problems of importance, which,
under the laws of the Commonwealth, the Board may be required to con-
sider and act upon. The Board may appoint subcommittees of not less than
three, its members to consider and deal with such special interests and
problems, and may delegate to such subcommittees any powers and duties
which may be conferred by law upon the Board in relation to such special
interests and problems.
