CHAPTER 421

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 12 of Title
15 thereof a section numbered 15.1-506.1, to authorize counties gen-
erally to provide certain liability insurance for certain officers and
employees.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
15.1-506.1, as follows:

§ 15.1-506.1. In any county having a population of over two hun-
dred forty thousand inhabitants, the board of county supervisors may
provide liability insurance for certain or all of its officers and employees
in the administrative service of the county to cover negligent acts com-
mitted or alleged to be committed while discharging their duties. The
liability insurance coverage shall be placed with insurance companies
authorized to do business in this State by the State Corporation Commis-
sion, on a competitive bidding basis.
