CHAPTER 402
An Act to authorize the Adjutant General of the Commonweulth of Vir-
ginia to provide group health and hospitalization insurance for em-
ployees of the Military Department, enter into agreements to that
end and approve payroll deductions to cover premiums and costs
payable by employees for such group insurance.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. The Adjutant General of the Commonwealth of Virginia is
hereby authorized and empowered to provide group health and hospitaliza-
tion insurance benefits for the employees of the Department of Military
Affairs including civilian employees of the State National Guard com-
pensated under the provisions of 32 U.S.C. § 709, as amended, and whose
compensation is solely payable from federal funds, and to enter into
agreements with insurance companies and prepaid hospital and medical
care plan companies to that end provided all premiums and costs of partici-
pation are contributed solely by such employees.
§ 2. The Adjutant General is further authorized and empowered
to deduct, or authorize the deduction by the Comptroller of, the amount
of the premium and costs of participation which the employee has agreed
to pay for such insurance benefits from the wages of such employee and
the State Treasurer shall remit the same directly to the insurance company
or prepaid hospital and medical care plan companies issuing the group
insurance or plan on the receipt of the written request of such employee.
§ 3. Nothing in this act shall affect any provision of §§ 38.1-471
through 38.1-482 or of Title 51.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage. -
