An Act to authorize the Governor and the Attorney General to execute,
an the name of the Commonwealth, a deed conveying unto the United
States of America certain formerly submerged lands in Hampton
oads.

Whereas, the United States owns certain lands abutting on Hampton
Roads in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, which are now used and desig-
nated as a Naval Fuel Supply Depot; and
Whereas, in the development of said lands, for Naval purposes, over
a period of years, the United States has reclaimed certain contiguous and
formerly submerged lands in Hampton Roads by bulkheading and filling,
and has erected extensive and costly improvements on said lands in the
interest of national defense; and
Whereas, the said reclaimed lands are now remotely located from the
waters of Hampton Roads and constitute an integral part of the Naval
Fuel Supply Depot; and
Whereas, it is desirable that the Commonwealth convey unto the
United States of America all of its right, title and interest in and to such
formerly submerged lands which have been reclaimed by the United States
of America as aforesaid; now, therefore;
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Governor and the Attorney General are hereby authorized
to execute, in the name of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and deliver to the
United States of America, a proper deed of conveyance, under the lesser
seal of the Commonwealth, conveying, subject to the jurisdicitional and
other limitations and reservations contained in §§ 7-19 and 7-25 of the
Code of Virginia, all of its right, title and interest in and to the following
described property :
All that certain tract, piece or parcel of land, containing 185 acres,
more or less, situate, lying and being in the City of Chesapeake, Virginia,
being as shown and delineated on Bureau of Yards and Docks Drawing
No. 959,297 entitled, ‘““N.S.C. Fuel Depot, Craney Island, Va., Property
Map Showing Lands Proposed for Acquisition By U. S. Government From
Commonwealth of Virginia,” dated February 7, 1962, last revised August
$0, 1965, and being particularly described with reference to said drawing,
as follows:
Beginning at point one (1) in the southern property line of the lands
of the United States of America, known as the United States Army Disposal
Area, containing 3400 acres, more or less, which lands were acquired by the
United States by deed of the Commonwealth of Virginia, dated June 19,
1948, recorded in the Clerk’s Office of the Circuit Court of the City of
Chesapeake, Virginia, in Deed Book 932 at page 283, said point being also
the most northwestern corner of a tract of formerly submerged lands trans-
ferred to the United States of America by the Commonwealth of Virginia
as authorized by Senate Bill 493 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
the Commonwealth of Virginia approved March 20, 1914; running thence
South 00° 03’ East and along the western boundary line of the last afore-
mentioned property, 1510 feet, more or less, to point two (2), as shown on
said drawing; thence southwesterly 55 feet, more or less, to point three
(3), said point being also the most northeastern corner of the lands of the
United States of America acquired by condemnation proceedings in Mis-
cellaneous No. 6749; thence northwesterly and along the northern boundary
of the last aforementioned property of the United States of America the
following five (5) courses and distances: North 84° 45’ West, 1290 feet
to point four (4); North 66° 40’ West, 1699 feet to point five (5); North
76° 58 West, 1108.6 feet to point six (6); North 72° 19’ West, 957.1 feet
to point seven (7), and North 67° 19’ West, 250 feet, more or less, to point
eight (8) ; thence leaving said northern boundary line and running N 02°
30’ W 190 feet, more or less, to a point on the southern boundary line of the
aforementioned U.S. Army Disposal Area; thence continuing in a northerly
direction along the aforementioned boundary line 430 feet, more or less,
to an angie point nine (9) ; thence in a General easterly direction following
the southern boundary line of the aforementioned disposal area 5,218 feet,
more or less, to the point of beginning.
