An Act to amend and reenact 8§ 54-757, 54-758 as amended, 54-759, 54-
759.1, 54-760, 54-761, and 54-765 as amended, of the Code of Virginia,
relating to fees for issuance and renewal of real estate brokers’ and
salesmen’ s licenses and expiration of such licenses; suspension of sales-
man’s license upon revocation of license of broker by whom employed
and reissuance thereof ; fees for transfer of salesman’s license, issuance
of duplicate broker’s license and issuance of new license when business
location changed; and publication by Virginia Real Estate Commission
of lists of licensees and suspended and revoked licenses; so as to in-
crease license period from one year to two years and adjust license
fees accordingly, increase such other fees, and provide for biennial
rather than annual publication of list of licensees. 8 1B

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 54-757, 54-758 as amended, 54-759, 54-759.1, 54-760, 54-761,
and 54-765 as amended, of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 54-757. On and after July one, nineteen hundred sixty-six, the
original fee for each real estate broker’s license shall be * twenty dollars,
and the * biennial renewal fee shall be * twenty dollars. On and after such
date the original fee for each real estate salesman’s license shall be * ten
dollars, and the * biennial renewal fee shall be * ten dollars.
§ 54-758. Every license issued for the license period beginning July
one, nineteen hundred sixty-six, and for subsequent license periods shall
expire on the thirtieth day of June of each succeeding even numbered year.
The Commission shall issue a new license for each ensuing two-year pertod,
in the absence of any reason or condition which might warrant the refusal
of the granting of a license, upon receipt of the written request of the ap-
plicant and the * biennial fee therefor not later than July thirty-one of any
such even numbered year; after such date the fee for renewal shall be *
twenty-two dollars in the case of real estate brokers and * eleven dollars in
the case of real estate salesmen. The Commission shall mail each license
holder at least thirty days prior to the first day of July of each such even
numbered year notice of the expiration of license and the fees for regular
and late renewal thereof. If any licensee, except a licensee called into
military service while actively engaged as a real estate broker or salesman,
fai] to renew his license within one year from the date of July thirty-one
of any such even numbered year as herein provided, his license shall lapse,
and he shall thereafter be required to apply as an original applicant.
Provided that no renewal license as a real estate broker shall be issued
by the Commission until the applicant therefor certifies to the Commission
in such form as the Commission may prescribe, that his State revenue
license as a real estate broker for the previous year has been paid.
§ 54-759. The revocation of a broker’s license shall automatically
suspend every real estate salesman’s license granted to any person by virtue
of his employment by the broker whose license has been revoked, pending a
change of employer and the issuance of a new license. Such new license
shall be issued without charge, if granted during the same two-year period
* for which the original license was granted.
€ 54-759.1. When a salesman transfers his license from one licensed
broker to another during the two-year license * period, a charge of * two
dollars shal] be made for each such transfer.
§ 54-760. If the real estate broker maintains more than one place of
business within the State, a duplicate license shall be issued to such broker
for each branch office maintained; provided, that if such broker be a
partnership, association or corporation, a duplicate shall be issued to the
members or officers thereof. A single fee of * two dollars in each case shall
be paid for each duplicate license.
§ 54-761. Notice in writing shall be given to the Commission by each
licensee of any change of principal business location, whereupon the Com-
mission shall issue a new license for the unexpired period and a single fee
of * tro dollars shall be charged for each certificate so corrected. The
change of business location without notification to the Commission shall
automatically cancel the license theretofore issued.
§ 54-765. The Commission shall at least * biennially publish a list of
the names and addresses of all licensees licensed by it under the provisions
of this chapter, and shall semiannually publish a list of all persons whose
licenses have been suspended or revoked within one year, together with
such other information relative to the enforcement of the provisions of
this chapter as it may deem of interest to the public. One of such lists shall
be mailed to the county clerk or clerk of the corporation court in each
county or city of the State and shall be held by the county clerk or clerk
of the corporation court as a public record. Such list shall also be mailed
by the Commission to any person in this State upon request.
