CHAPTER 262

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
$8.1-30.1, relating to the regulation of proxies, consents and authort-
zations of domestic stock insurance companies. (H 872]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
$8.1-80.1, as follows:

§ 38.1-30.1. The Commission shall have the power and authority
to make and promulgate rules and regulations pertaining to and govern-
ing the solicitation of proxies, consents and authorizations, including
financial reporting in connection therewith, with respect to the voting
equity securities of any domestic stock insurance company; provided,
however, that such rules and regulations as may be adopted pursuant to
this section shall not be applicable to any domestic stock insurance com-
pany, the equity securities of which are registered, or required to be
registered, pursuant to Section 12 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934,
as amen
