An Act to amend and reenact §§ 54-112.19, 54-112.26 and 54-112.27 of the
Code of Virginia, relating among other things to fees for biennial
renewal certificates of registered professional hairdressers and for
keenses for beauty parlors, salons, places or establishments rendering
public cosmetic treatments or hairdressing. P

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That §§ 54-112.19, 54-112.26 and 54-112.27 of the Code of Virginia
be amended and reenacted as follows:
$ 54-112.19. On or before January one, nineteen hundred sixty-three,
and annually thereafter until January one, nineteen hundred sixty-seven,
every “registered professional hairdresser” shall pay to the Department
of Professional and Occupational Registration a fee of five dollars for the
renewal of his certificate. On and after January one, nineteen hundred
surty-seren, renewal certificates shall be issued biennially for which a fee
of ten dollars shall be paid. In the event a renewal certificate is issued
during the second year of any biennium, such certificate shall expire Decem-
ber thirty-first of such year and the fee therefor shall be five dollars.
€ 54-112.26. No person, firm or corporation shall operate or attempt
to operate a beauty parlor or salon in which cosmetics are used or cosmetic
ilenpaiin given or where human hair is cut, curled or treated in any
manner, except as provided in § 54-112.1 of this Code, unless licensed to
% 90 under the provisions of this chapter. An application for such license
shall be made to the Board in writing * biennially containing such informa-
tion as shall be required by the Board and shall be accompanied by a fee
of * ten dollars in the case of beauty parlors or salons. In the event a license
is issued during the second year of any biennium such license shall expire
December thirty-first of such year and the fee therefor shall be five dollars.
§ 54-112.27. On or after January one, nineteen hundred sixty-five, it
shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to operate any place
or establishment which renders as part of its service to the general public
cosmetic treatments of any kind or nature, cutting, curling, treating or
dressing human hair for compensation, unless such place or establishment
has a current license issued by the Board. The * biennial fee for such license
shall be * ten dollars and shall be paid on or before January one of each *
biennium. If any license is issued during the second year of a biennium
such license shall expire December thirty-first of such year and the fee
therefor shall be five dollars.
