4n Act to authorize the Governor on behalf of the State to convey certain
submerged and formerly submerged land to Arlington Trust Com-
pany, Inc.

Whereas, in recent years the city of Portsmouth has reclaimed by
filling and bulkheading certain submerged land from the bed of Crawford
Bay and the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, Virginia, abutting the prop-
erty now, or formerly, owned by it; and
Whereas, the city of Portsmouth conveyed a portion of the above de-
scribed land to Arlington Trust Company, Inc.; and
Whereas, Arlington Trust Company, Inc., desires to perfect title to
such reclaimed land and the adjacent submerged land by obtaining a con-
veyance thereof from the Commonwealth of Virginia; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: .
1. §1. That the Governor is hereby authorized to convey to Arlington
Trust Company, Inc., all right, title and interest of the State in and to the
following described property:
All that certain piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the
city of Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point located North 42° 26’ 49” West 28.33 feet from
Pierhead Line Station 36; thence North 42° 26’ 49” West 1098.46 feet;
thence South 59° 48’ 56” West 1259.34 feet; thence South 0° 42’ 10” East
192.88 feet to the northern boundary of Crawford Parkway; thence South
87° 05’ 00” East 706.67 feet; thence South 82° 58’ 48” East 444.79 feet;
thence South 78° 43’ 15” East 597.53 feet to the point of beginning.
§ 2. The deed conveying the aforesaid property shall be prepared by
the Attorney General and shall contain such covenants as may be appro-
priate under the circumstances.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
