CHAPTER 73

An Act to amend and reenact § 13 of Chapter 480, Acts of Assembly,
1940, which provided a charter for the town of Holland, in the county
of Nansemond, relating to the election of the clerk, treasurer and
sergeant of the town.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 13 of Chapter 430, Acts of Assembly, 1940, be amended and
reenacted as follows:

§ 18. The clerk, treasurer, and sergeant shall be elected by the
council * and shall serve at the pleasure of the council. The office of treas-
urer and clerk may be filled by the same person, but in the event that the
said offices shall be combined as herein provided, then the council may
provide for and require an annual audit of its books.

2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
