CHAPTER 656

An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
14-8.2, so as to provide for supplementing the compensation of the
sheriff i in certain counties.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
14-8.2, as follows:

§ 14-8.2. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this title, the
governing body of any county having a population of more than fourteen
thousand five hundred but less than fifteen thousand may, in its discretion,
supplement the compensation of the sheriff of such county above the salary
of such sheriff in such amount as it may deem expedient. Such additional
compensation shall be wholly payable from the funds of any such county.

An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
