CHAPTER 655

An Act to amend and reenact § 29-184.4 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to local ordinances in counties which have taken over the enforcement

of the dog laws.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. p pea § 29-184.4 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:

§ 29-184.4. The governing body of any county or city to which the
provisions of §§ 29-184.2 *, 29-184.3 and 29-184.5 are applicable may
enact local ordinances corresponding in nature and scope, and not in
conflict with, the provisions of this chapter, and may repeal, amend or
modify such ordinances; provided, no governing body of a county or city
may provide penalties for violating a provision of an ordinance adopted
pursuant to this section which is greater than the penalty imposed for a
similar offense under the provisions of this chapter.
