CHAPTER 563
An Act to provide for a memorial to Dr. Jack W. Witten; and to this end
to authorize the Department of Conservation and Economic Develop-
ment to accept and maintain certain property in the town of Taze-
well; to authorize the State Library Board to erect a marker thereon;
and to authorize certain other agencies to participate in such under-
taking.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. The Department of Conservation and Economic Development is
authorized to accept from the American Legion Post, located in the town
of Tazewell, not exceeding five acres of land as a memorial to Dr. Jack
W. Witten, beloved former member of the House of Delegates. The Depart-
ment is authorized to maintain such property from funds provided by law
and to place thereon such benches and tables as will enable it to be used
as a rest area. The State Library Board, from funds provided by law, is
authorized to erect a marker thereon pointing out the many contributions
of Dr. Witten, including his benefactions to so many homeless youths. The
Department of Highways may use its equipment and personnel to place
the property so received in a suitable condition.
