An Act to authorize the Board of Visitors of Virginia Polytechnic Instt-
tute to sell and convey certain real estate, with the approval of the
Governor, and to provide for the disposition of the proceeds of such
sale.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. Subject to the approval of the Governor, in writing first ob-
tained, the Board of Visitors of Virginia Polytechnic Institute is hereby
empowered to sell and convey by deed, in form approved by the Attorney
General, whatever interest it may have in the following described real
estate:
All that certain tract or parcel of land, with any improvements
thereon, lying and being in Blacksburg Magisterial District of the county
of Montgomery, Virginia, and bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a corner fence post being the common corner between
Troy Shelor, U. 8S. Highway #460, and VPI property thence N 14° 53’ E
65.47’ to a concrete highway monument; thence N 1° 44’ E 106.53 ft. toa
concrete highway monument; thence on a curve whose radius is 5775.0’
whose chord is N 6° 81’ E 500.28 ft. to a concrete highway monument;
thence N 10° 03’ E 203.30 ft. to a concrete highway monument; thence
N 3° 48’ W 309.11 ft. to a post; thence N 1° 50’ E 198.06’ to a concrete
highway monument; thence N 5° 50’ W 94.21 ft. to a common corner be-
tween J. E. Ray, U.S. Highway +460 and VPI; thence following the com-
mon line between Ray, Lester and Robert L. Epperly, and VPI N 75° 21’
E 412.04’ to a post; thence following Virginia State Secondary Route 608
on a curve whose radius is 553.00 ft. and whose chord is S 24° 0314’ E
113.85 ft. to an iron pipe; thence S 18° 09’ E 48.09 ft. to a pipe; thence on
a curve whose radius is 2884.99 ft. and whose chord is S 21° 34’ E 348.89
ft. to a pipe; thence S 24° 59’ E 37.61 ft. to a pipe; thence on a curve whose
radius is 252.84 ft., whose chord is S 0° 29’ E 209.70 ft. to a pipe; thence
S 24° 01’ W 177.75 ft. to a pipe; thence on a curve whose radius is 656.66
ft. and whose chord is S 12° 41’ W 258.09 ft. to a pipe: thence S 1° 21’ W
288.49 ft. to a pipe; thence on a curve whose radius is 838.48 ft., whose
chord is S 5° 0314’ EF 187.16 ft.; thence leaving Virginia State Secondary
Route 608 and following a dedicated right of way S 89° 26’ W 332.83 ft.
to a post; thence following a common line between VPI and Jessie Lovern
and Troy Shelor N 81° 53’ W 243.02 ft. to a post and the point of BEGIN-
NING and containing 18.93 acres. .
Being the same real estate conveyed to the Board of Visitors of
Virginia Polytechnic Institute from M. M. Hylton, by deed dated May 23,
1942, and recorded in the clerk’s office, Circuit Court, county of Mont-
gomery, Virginia, in Deed Book 126, page 37. |
§ 2. All moneys received from the sale of said property shall be
paid into the State treasury to the credit of Virginia Polytechnic Institute
to be expended in whole or in part for the acquisition of additional land for
college purposes, subject to the approval of the Governor.
2. An emergency exists, and this act is in force from its passage.
