CHAPTER 485

An Act to amend and reenact § 89-3 of the Code of Virginia, relating to

justices of the peace in incorporated towns.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

a That § 89-3 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

§ 39-3. Irrespective of the provisions of its charter, any incorpo-
rated town of this Commonwealth may provide for the election or appoint-
ment of a justice or justices of the peace for such town, who shall be
clothed with all the powers and authority of other justices of the peace
and upon whom may be conferred, in the manner provided in § 16-129,
the right and authority therein set forth.

2. An emergency exists and this Act is in force from its passage.
