An Act for the relief of the children of Wiley Willard Collins. CH 403]

Whereas, Wiley Willard Collins died at Catawba Sanatorium on
February 13, 1963, after having been separated from State service on
May 23, 1962 under circumstances which entitled him to disability retire-
ment and continued insurance coverage under the Virginia Supplemental
Retirement System; and
Whereas, due to an error or misunderstanding on the part of the State
employees handling personnel and retirement matters, Mr. Collins was not
retired for disability although he was advised that his application for re-
tirement was being properly processed; and
Whereas, Mr. Collins’ insurance coverage at the time of his separation
from State service was in the amount of $5,000, and this coverage should
have been continued, on a diminishing basis, without cost to him, until his
death and in addition he should have been receiving retirement benefits;
now, therefore
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The State Treasurer, on warrant of the Comptroller, is directed
to pay, from the special revenue in the State treasury available for the
maintenance and operation of the State Convict Road Force the sum of
four thousand two hundred dollars to Mrs. Arlene Collins Payne, Mrs.
Hazel Collins Ayers, and Mrs. Dorothy Collins Allen, daughters of Wiley
Willard Collins, upon execution by them of a release of all claims they
may have against the Commonwealth or any employee thereof in connec-
ace with the separation from State service or death of Wiley Willard
ollins.
