CHAPTER 426
An Act to prescribe a uniform fiscal year for all cities of the Common-
wealth, and city and town school boards; and to require cities to
adopt uniform fiscal year accounting procedures satisfactory to the
Auditor of Public Accounts.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. The fiscal year of every city of the Commonwealth, and every city
and town school board, shall begin on the first day of July and end on
the thirtieth day of June. Every city, and every city and town school
board, whose accounting period is now different from that which is pre-
scribed by this act shall have until July first, nineteen hundred and sixty-
eight in which to adjust its accounting period to conform to this act.
The town school boards included in this act are the school boards of towns
constituting separate school districts.
§ 2. Every city, and every city and town school board, shall, as soon
as practicable, but not later than July first, nineteen hundred and sixty-
six, adopt and put into effect uniform fiscal year accounting procedures
satisfactory to the Auditor of Public Accounts, so that he may include
municipal financial data in his annual publication on the comparative cost
of local government as required by § 15.1-166 of the Code of Virginia.
§ 3. All acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act, including
charter provisions, are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
