An Act to amend and reenact § 15.1-586 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to regular meetings of the county board of supervisors. rH 200}

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. f anak | § 15.1-586 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:
§ 15.1-536. Except as otherwise provided by law, the governing
of each county shall assemble at the courthouse of the county or at an
office building owned by the county in an adjacent city, or at such other
public place in the county as the governing body may prescribe, in regular
session not less often than once each month upon such day or days as may
be prescribed by order of the governing body.
The first meeting held after the newly jected members of the govern-
ing body shall have qualified and the first meeting held in the correspond-
ing month of each succeeding year shall be known as the annual meeting,
and the first meeting held in the sixth month thereafter shall be known as
the semiannual meeting.
The days, times and places of regular meetings to be held during the
ensuing twelve months shall be established at the annual meeting. Pro-
vided, however, that if the governing body subsequently shall prescribe any
public place other than the courthouse, or any time other than that initially
established, as a meeting place or time, the governing body shall pass a
resolution as to such future meeting place or time and shall cause a copy
of such resolution to be posted on the door of the courthouse and inserted
in a newspaper having a general circulation in the county once a week
for two successive weeks prior to the first such meeting at such other place
or time. Provided further that should the day established by the governing
body as the regular meeting day fall on any legal holiday, the meeting shall
be held on the next following regular business day, without action of any
kind by the governing body.
Notwithstanding any “Ouher provision of law, a majority of the mem-
bers of the governing body present at the prescribed time and place to
attend any meeting held or to have been held pursuant to the provisions
of this section shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of adjourning
such meeting from day to day or from time to time, not beyond the time
fixed for the next regular meeting, until the business before the governing
body is completed.
