Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 33-172.1 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted
as follows:

§ 33-172.1. The governing bodies of cities and towns having more
than thirty-five hundred population and the State Highway Commissioner
may enter into agreements, upon such terms and conditions as may be
necessary, for the maintenance of public highway bridges lying partly
within and partly without the incorporated limits of such cities and

The State Highway Commissioner may enter into agreements, with
other states and the District of Columbia, upon such terms and conditions
as may be necessary, for the maintenance and operation, including the
issuance of permits, of public highway bridges lying partly within and
partly without the territorial limits of this Commonwealth.
