An Act to amend and reenact § 68-82 of the Code of Virginia, relating
to compensation of superintendents and employees of local welfare

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. 1 That § 68-82 of the Code of Virginia be amended and reenacted as
ollows:

§ 68-82. The local superintendent and other persons employed by
the local board or local superintendent of any county or city shall be paid
such compensation by such county or city as shall be fixed by the local
board within the compensation schedules provided in the Merit System
Plan. Provided, that in any county having a population of more than two
hundred and fifty thousand and in any county or city having a population
of more than fifty thousand adjoining such county the governing body may
provide that the local superintendent and other persons employed by the
local board or local superintendent shall be paid compensation in excess
of the schedules provided in the Merit System Plan. Such compensation,
however, shall be patd wholly from the funds of such county or city.
