CHAPTER 307
An Act to provide that cities and towns may provide for continuity of
government in. certain cases.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. Notwithstanding any provision of general law or the provisions
of any charter, the governing body of any city or county or town in this
State may, by ordinance, provide such method to assure continuity in its
government as may be reasonable, in the event of atomic attack or other
disaster; provided that such ordinance shall be limited in its effect to not
exceeding six months after any such disaster and shall provide for a method
for the resumption of normal governmental authority by the end of such
six month period.
