An Act to direct the Virginia Advisory Legislative Council to make a
study of the State Police Retirement System, and to provide for the
payment of certain costs in connection therewith. P

Whereas, the Commonwealth of Virginia has a continuing interest
in assuring that the retirement system for State police officers is adequate
to meet the needs of the Commonwealth in maintaining an efficient State
police force; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Virginia Advisory Legislative Council is directed to make
a study of the retirement system for State police officers, including the
statutes relating thereto, and experience thereunder, and with special
reference to the actuarial effect of any changes in the retirement benefits
provided thereunder. All agencies of the State shall assist the Council
in its study, upon request. The Council shall complete its study and make
a report containing its findings and recommendations to the Governor
and General Assembly not later than October one, nineteen hundred
sixty-five.
§ 2. The Board of Trustees of the Virginia Supplemental Retire-
ment System is authorized to expend, from funds available under Title
51 of the Code of Virginia for administration of the retirement system
for State police officers, such sums as may be necessary to defray the
expenses of any actuarial or statistical computations necessary for the
completion of the Council’s study.
