CHAPTER 285
An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered
54-811.1, providing for the issuance of a temporary license to a
foreign doctor for the purpose of teaching and practicing in the Uni-
versity of Virginia Medical School and the Medical College of Virginia.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a section numbered
§4-311.1 as follows:
§ 54-811.1. Upon recommendation of the dean of the school of medi-
cine of either the University of Virginia Medical School or the Medical
College of Virginia, made after consultation with the heads of department
of such School or College, the Board in its discretion and being satisfied
by oral examination or otherwise that the applicant is qualified, may issue
to an applicant graduated from a foreign medical school a temporary license
to practice medicine only in the hospital or hospitals and out-patient clinics
connected with the School or College and only while he is a full time mem-
ber of the faculty teaching there. The license shall be valid for a period
of not more than one year, expiring on the thirtieth day of June following
its initial effective date, but may be renewed annually by the Board in
accordance with the provisions of § 54-315.1 upon recommendation of the
dean of the school of medicine where he teaches.
