CHAPTER 237
An Act to provide for the duties of general registrars tn certain counties
and cities in connection with certain lists of registered voters, the
number of election districts, and number of voters therein. ,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. §1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, in
any city having a population of more than ninety thousand but less
than ninety-seven thousand and in any county contiguous to any such
city, and in each case having a general registrar:
(a) The lists certified under § 24-78 of the Code of Virginia shall
be kept in the office of such general registrar in suitable books or other
records instead of in the office of the clerk of the circuit or corporation
court; and
(b) The list of election districts and number of voters in such dis-
tricts required to be certified under § 24-255 of the Code of Virginia shall
be certified by the general registrar instead of the county clerk or clerk
of the corporation court
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
